Yay! I did it! I finally took a beautiful picture of Chou-tombo. I have been fascinated by this beautiful dragonfly since last year when I saw it for the first time in life. This dragonfly does not stop so often. So it is very difficult to take a picture. Today, it sit on a grass in front of me. I was so excited and happy :-)
Today, I saw a beautiful small red damselfly, Beni-Itotombo (Ceriagrion nipponicum), in the 6th moat of Fukuoka castle. It is in the Japanese Red Data Book. Last year, I saw it at the same place (click here). I'm so happy to see it again in the same place, since it means that human did not destroy their home.
After we enjoyed Chura-umi aquarium, we drove to north. During the way to north, I found a beach named Nagahama beach on my iPhone map. We were curious, and went there. It turned out that the beach is a private beach. But owner of the beach allowed us to enter the beach.
There was no one there. But a guy appeared suddenly, and he showed us eggs of marine turtles (He is saving these eggs. So please don't dig by yourself). That was amazing.
He also told us an interesting story. "Hoshi-no-suna (star sand)" is a famous popular souvenir in Okinawa. It is carcass of Foraminifera. He said that there is a Foraminifera factory. They culture Foraminifera, and kill them to make the souvenir. Actually, real star sand was very difficult to find. We scooped sand of the beach, and found 1 or 2 star sand in one scoop. He kind of destroyed dream of star sand :( But when I found real star sand, I was so happy :)
He told us that recently, Anna Tsuchiya, who is a famous Japanese singer, made her promotion video at this beach. This beach is very very beautiful. Please enjoy photos of the beach. There were lots of hermit crabs also.
We had Umi-budou (sea grapes, Caulerpa lentillifera) for breakfast on Saturday for the first time in my life. It looked like grapes, but no taste. It is a kind of seaweed. Although it does not have taste, its texture was interesting.
Our friend lent a car for us. It's navigation system was useless, so I show you the navigation system. 「お店」means shop. The system navigated us to turn left between shops. There are many shops. Which shop!? It was unbelievable. In stead of the useless navigation system, we used my iPhone "map" application for navigation. iPhone was great!
We visited our friend in Okinawa, who has been working there only in few months, and will be back to Tokyo at the end of this month. We visited him on Friday night to Sunday night. We were very lucky, since it had been raining for few weeks until we arrived there. Then it had stopped raining for only the two days. Next day we left there, Typhoon hit Okinawa. We stayed in a very beautiful hotel, Loisir hotel Naha, with a butterfly garden. In the garden, we saw Ogomadara (Idea leuconoe), which is the biggest butterfly in Japan. Its chrysalis is gold. I first thought that it is fake, but it's real!
